Professional rugby union player François ‘Faf’ de Klerk currently plays scrum-half for the Sales Sharks and represents South Africa in the national team.
Having impressed coaches during his teens and excelling in his scrum-half position, during his rugby youth career, De Klerk went on to enjoy several seasons with prestigious teams the Blue Bulls and the Golden Lions. After making his senior debut with the Pumas during 2012, De Klerk has gone on to play for a number of premiership teams including the Lions, with whom he debuted for during 2014 and played an instrumental role in the team, enabling them to enjoy many a victory. He has also played for the Golden Lions and is currently signed to the English Premiership team the Sales Sharks, with who he has been signed to since 2017. Having become a renowned rugby union player, De Klerk went on to make his international debut representing his home-country South Africa during 2016 when they played their three-test match against Ireland. Since then De Klerk went on to represent South Africa again during their three test-match series against England during 2018.
Considered as one of the world’s best scrum-halves, De Klerk was a leading member of the South African national team during their immense victory during the 2019 Rugby Championship, shortly followed by his key role in the teams 2019 Rugby World Cup win.
