Falk Hentschel was born on March 31, 1982, in Leipzig, East Germany. His early life was marked by movement; he and his family, including his parents Jörg and Martina, and brother Uwe, departed East Germany seven months prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall. This early experience contributed to his bilingual upbringing, fluent in both English and German, as he resided in various international locations throughout his youth.
Hentschel began his professional career in London as a backup dancer for prominent artists such as Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Paulina Rubio, and Jamelia. His work as a dancer eventually led him to roles as a choreographer, contributing to numerous music videos and tours across Canada and Asia. In 2003, Hentschel moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. His acting debut occurred in 2005 on the Emmy Award-winning series “Arrested Development.” Following this, he secured minor roles in projects like “Journeyman” and various independent films. In 2008, Hentschel expanded his creative involvement by writing the short film “Who is Bobby Domino,” marking the beginning of his collaboration with production partner Jesse Grace. Together, they produced several short films that gained recognition at international film festivals and garnered awards.
His career significantly advanced in 2009 with a role in the major feature film “Knight and Day,” where he played the assassin Bernhard alongside Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. The subsequent year, Hentschel took on the role of Richard Conway in TNT’s “The Closer.” In 2011, he appeared in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” A notable role came in 2012 with “StreetDance 2,” where he portrayed Ash, the leader of a street dance crew. In 2015, Hentschel was cast as Carter Hall, also known as Hawkman, a role he reprised in DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Arrow,” and “The Flash,” solidifying his presence in prominent television franchises. His acting work also includes roles in films such as “White House Down” (2013), “Transcendence” (2014), and “Welcome to Marwen” (2018).
