Filippo Inzaghi

Filippo Inzaghi, born on August 9, 1973, in Piacenza, Italy, began his football career in the youth academy of his hometown club Piacenza. He steadily progressed through various Italian clubs, including Leffe, Hellas Verona, and Parma, before gaining significant recognition at Atalanta, where he became the Serie A top scorer (Capocannoniere) in the 1996–97 season with 24 goals. His exceptional goal-scoring abilities then led him to Juventus in 1997, forming a formidable attacking partnership with Alessandro Del Piero and Zinedine Zidane. During his four seasons at Juventus, he won the Serie A title in 1997–98 and the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1999, scoring 89 goals in 165 appearances for the club.

In 2001, Inzaghi joined AC Milan, beginning the most notable period of his playing career. Known as ‘Superpippo,’ he truly flourished at AC Milan, becoming a club legend. He was instrumental in AC Milan’s success, notably scoring a decisive brace in the 2007 Champions League Final against Liverpool and contributing to their Club World Cup Final victory against Boca Juniors in the same year. His tenure at AC Milan saw him win two Champions League titles (2003, 2007), two Serie A titles (2004, 2011), two UEFA Super Cups (2003, 2007), one Coppa Italia (2003), and one Italian Supercup (2004). He concluded his playing career at AC Milan in 2012 with an impressive record of 126 goals in 300 official appearances. Inzaghi also represented the Italian national team from 1997 to 2007, earning 57 caps and scoring 25 goals, notably winning the FIFA World Cup in 2006 and achieving a runner-up medal at UEFA Euro 2000.

Following his retirement as a player, Inzaghi transitioned into management, starting with AC Milan’s youth team in 2012, and later managing the senior team from 2014 to 2015. He continued his managerial career with several Italian clubs, showcasing his leadership and strategic capabilities. At Venezia, he achieved promotion to Serie B in 2017 and won the Coppa Italia Lega Pro. He then managed Benevento, guiding them to promotion to Serie A in 2020. Most recently, in 2025, he led Pisa to promotion to Serie A after a 34-year absence and was subsequently appointed head coach of Palermo. His career highlights include being Italy’s all-time top goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League with 46 goals and the sixth-highest goalscorer in European club competitions with 70 goals.
