Folake Olowofoyeku has captivated audiences and critics with her acting prowess and has gained recognition across television, film, and music. After earning her B.A. with honors in theater from City College of New York, Folake Olowofoyeku went on to cultivate her acting career through acclaimed off-Broadway performances in New York City. Olowofoyeku quickly expanded into television, securing guest roles in episodic series such as ’30 Rock,’ ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent,’ ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,’ ‘White Collar,’ ‘Modern Family,’ ‘How to Get Away with Murder,’ ‘The Gifted,’ ‘Colony,’ and ‘Westworld.’ Demonstrating her versatility early on, she also appeared as David Bowie’s bassist in his 2013 music videos for ‘The Stars (Are Out Tonight)’ and ‘The Next Day.’ A significant turning point came with her four-episode recurring role as Lyfe in the final season of Amazon Prime Video’s Transparent between 2017 and 2019.

Her critically acclaimed performance earned her the 2019 Breakout Actress in TV Award from the Sync Con Honors Awards and an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. Beyond her acting, Olowofoyeku is an accomplished musician known as The Folake, creating Afro-beat electronic music and demonstrating proficiency on both guitar and piano. Further expanding her voice acting portfolio, Olowofoyeku is set to voice the character of Amara in the highly anticipated 2024 Disney animated prequel Mufasa: The Lion King.
