About

Gabriel Nnamdi Vincent was born on June 14, 1996, in Modesto, California, to parents Franklyn and Cynthia Vincent, both with doctorates in psychology. He attended St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, California, and later played college basketball for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos from 2014 to 2018, averaging 12.8 points over 113 games. Following his senior season, he earned a spot on the 2018 All-Big West Second Team. Despite going undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft, Vincent began his professional journey with the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League.

Vincent’s career progressed significantly during his time with the Stockton Kings from 2018 to 2020. In his first season, he averaged 8.8 points in 24 games. His second season saw a notable improvement, where he averaged 23.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.30 steals per game over 20 games, shooting 46.9% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range. This performance earned him the NBA G League Most Improved Player award in 2020. His strong play led to a two-way contract with the Miami Heat in January 2020, marking his entry into the NBA. He continued to develop with the Heat, reaching the NBA Finals in both 2020 and 2023.

In July 2023, Vincent signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, contributing to their NBA Cup championship victory in 2023. Beyond his NBA career, Vincent represents the Nigerian national basketball team, D’Tigers, and participated in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China. His journey from an undrafted player to a consistent NBA contributor highlights his resilience and continuous improvement.
