Gabriel Luna

Gabriel Isaac Luna was born on December 5, 1982, in Austin, Texas. He attended St. Edward’s University in Austin, making his stage debut as Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet” and graduating in 2005. Early in his career, Luna made his screen acting debut in the drama film “Fall to Grace” (2005), which premiered at South by Southwest. He further contributed voice-over work for the video game “BlackSite: Area 51” (2007) and was a founding member of the Austin-based Paper Chairs Theatre Company. His stage performances in “Black Snow” (2009), “Orestes” (2009), and “Endgame” (2010) earned him the Austin Critics Table Best Lead Actor Award in 2010. Luna’s early film roles included the black comedy “Bernie” (2011), directed by Richard Linklater. His television career began with minor roles in series like “Prison Break” (2008) and “Temple Grandin” (2010).

A pivotal moment came in 2014 when Luna secured a leading role as Tony Bravo in the El Rey Network series “Matador,” which ran for one season. He continued to gain recognition with a recurring role in the second season of HBO’s “True Detective” (2015) and a starring position as Detective Paco Contreras in ABC’s “Wicked City” (2015). In 2016, Luna expanded his range by starring as border patrol agent Lance Flores in the thriller film “Transpecos” and portraying motorcycle racer Eddie Hasha in the Discovery Channel miniseries “Harley and the Davidsons.” His profile significantly rose with his role as Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider in the ABC action superhero series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (2016–2017), a performance that earned him a nomination for Choice TV: Action Actor at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards.

Luna’s career milestones include his role as the villainous Rev-9 Terminator in “Terminator: Dark Fate” (2019), a major motion picture release. In 2021, he was cast as Tommy Miller in the HBO post-apocalyptic drama series “The Last of Us” (2023–present), co-starring with Pedro Pascal, further solidifying his presence in high-profile television productions. His work also includes a role in the Netflix series “FUBAR” (2023).
