Gabriela Soukalová

Gabriela Soukalová is a celebrated former Czech biathlete and television presenter, renowned for her exceptional achievements both on the snow-covered tracks and on screen. After achieving her first World Cup victory in the 7.5 km sprint on December 14, 2012, Gabriela Soukalová rapidly established herself as a formidable force in biathlon. Her career, which began with her World Cup debut on December 11, 2009, quickly escalated. In 2013, Soukalová secured a bronze medal in the mixed relay at the World Championships in Nove Mesto.

Her outstanding contributions to sport were recognized when she was named Czech Sportsperson of the Year in 2017. Soukalová formally announced her retirement from biathlon in May 2019 following a leg injury. Transitioning beyond her athletic career, Soukalová published her autobiography, ‘Jiná’ (meaning ‘Different’), in April 2018, sharing insights from her journey. Since then, she has transitioned into television, establishing herself as a compelling presenter for TV Prima.

Her enduring impact on biathlon was further cemented in February 2024, when she was inducted into the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Hall of Fame. Most recently, a documentary chronicling her life and career, titled ‘Gabriela Soukalová: Pravda se po?ád vyplatí,’ premiered in March 2024.
