Gary Jones

Born on January 4, 1958, in Swansea, Wales, UK, Gary Jones embarked on his career in entertainment working in television and stage productions across both the United Kingdom and Canada. Before his acting prominence, he served as an Art Director for a Gazette Newspaper in Burlington. His commitment to the craft led him to join Toronto’s esteemed Second City Improv Company in the mid-1980s, where he honed his comedic and improvisational skills. In 1986, Jones moved to Vancouver for Expo 86 with Second City, performing for six months at the Expo’s Flying Club. Following Expo 86, he settled in Vancouver and began building his television career with early guest appearances in series such as ‘Wiseguy,’ ‘Airwolf,’ and ‘Danger Bay.’ He was also an active member of the Vancouver TheatreSports League, developing his stage presence and quick wit. Throughout his career, Jones has demonstrated versatility as an actor, writer, and producer, securing multiple awards and nominations for his contributions across different facets of the entertainment industry.

Jones gained significant recognition for his long-standing role as Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman in ‘Stargate SG-1,’ a character he portrayed for 108 episodes across ten seasons from 1997 to 2007. He reprised this role in ‘Stargate Atlantis’ and associated films like ‘Stargate: The Ark of Truth’ and ‘Stargate: Continuum,’ becoming a familiar and respected figure within the science fiction genre. His acting credits extend to numerous other television series, including ‘Sliders,’ ‘Cold Squad,’ ‘The Outer Limits,’ ‘Andromeda,’ ‘Dead Like Me,’ ‘Supernatural,’ ‘Timeless,’ ‘Travelers,’ and ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.’ In film, he has appeared in projects such as ‘The Package’ (2018), ‘Dead Rising: Watchtower’ (2015), and ‘The Santa Clause 2’ (2002).

Beyond acting, Gary Jones has also contributed as a writer for various productions, including multiple Leo Awards specials, ‘The Debaters,’ ‘The Collector,’ and the animated series ‘Silverwing.’ He also served as a producer and co-producer for the TV series ‘Forgotten Masters’ in 2021, showcasing his diverse capabilities within the industry.
