Canadian actor Gary Jones is best known for his recurring role as Walter Harriman in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. He has worked on both stage and television and as he was born in Britain, he has acted in his native country as well as Canada.
Jones is a former member of the improv group “Mission Improvable”, whom had a CBC comedy special. In the mid-90s, prior to his Stargate roles, he was also part of Toronto’s Second City Improv Company. In 1986 Jones travelled to Vancouver for Expo, where the group performed for six months at the Expo’s Flying Club.
When the Expo came to an end, Jones stayed in Vancouver for 15 years as a main stage performer at Vancouver Theatresports, acquiring many awards along the way, including a top prize at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Improv Championships. He has even performed comedy in front of Bill Gates!
For the next decade Jones honed in on his acting career in Stargate: SG: 1, a role that allowed him to appear at many conventions and meet fans all over the world. He has also featured countless times on CBC’s hit radio show The Debaters, as well as being a lead writer for the show. Aside from his acting career, Jones gives regular entertaining talks and hosts many events which include the BCSS Emerald Eve gala and several Leo Awards galas. His undeniable charm and sharp humour allow him to command a room and keep the audience engaged throughout.
