Gavin Thomas Lux, born on November 23, 1997, in Kenosha, WI, established himself as a prominent baseball player from his early years. He graduated from Indian Trail High School in Kenosha in 2016, where his exceptional performance led to him being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first round as the 20th overall pick in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft. Prior to signing with the Dodgers for a $2.31 million bonus, Lux had committed to Arizona State University, showcasing his potential as a highly sought-after talent. His professional journey began in the minor leagues, where he quickly ascended through the ranks, demonstrating consistent improvement and earning recognition.
Lux’s minor league career saw him with the Arizona League Dodgers and Ogden Raptors in 2016, followed by a full season with the Single-A Great Lakes Loons in 2017. In 2018, he played for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and was promoted to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers, where he was named the Dodgers Minor League Player of the Year. His momentum continued into 2019, starting with the Tulsa Drillers before moving to the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers. That year was particularly notable, as he was recognized as Baseball America’s Minor League Player of the Year, leading the minor leagues in several statistical categories, solidifying his status as a top prospect.
Gavin Lux made his Major League Baseball debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 2, 2019. He quickly made an impact, scoring three runs in his debut and hitting his first MLB home run days later. He continued to carve out a significant role with the Dodgers, becoming a World Series champion in 2024. During his tenure, he achieved career highs in multiple categories, including games played, hits, and doubles, and led the National League in triples in 2022. Despite a season-ending ACL injury in 2023, Lux recovered and returned to play a crucial role, eventually being traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 2025, where he continues his career as a versatile infielder and outfielder.
