Gavin McInnes

Gavin McInnes began his career in 1994, joining Voice magazine as an assistant editor and cartoonist before co-founding Vice magazine in 1996 alongside Suroosh Alvi and Shane Smith. The trio acquired Voice magazine, rebranding it as Vice and establishing it as a prominent voice in alternative culture. In 2001, McInnes relocated to New York City with Vice Media, where he became a key figure, contributing articles such as ‘The VICE Guide to Happiness’ and ‘The VICE Guide to Picking Up Chicks.’ He also co-authored several books, including ‘The Vice Guide to Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll’ and ‘Vice Dos and Don’ts: 10 Years of VICE Magazine’s Street Fashion Critiques.’ In 2006, he appeared in ‘The Vice Guide to Travel’ with David Cross, before departing from Vice in 2008. Following his tenure at Vice, McInnes founded the website StreetCarnage.com in 2008 and concurrently co-founded Rooster, an advertising agency where he served as creative director.

Continuing to engage with significant cultural figures, McInnes interviewed Kanye West and Nick Fuentes in 2022. Most recently, in 2024, he oversaw the strategic merger of Censored.TV with Compound Media, creating Compound Censored. This new entity serves as a comprehensive platform for his extensive work as a writer, podcaster, and commentator, reinforcing his long-standing presence in independent media.
