Gbenga Akinnagbe

Olugbenga Enitan Temitope Akinnagbe was born on December 12, 1978, in Washington, D.C., to Yoruba Nigerian parents. He was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, as the second of six children, and the first in his family born in the United States. Akinnagbe attended Colonel Zadok A. Magruder High School in Rockville, Maryland, and later graduated from Bucknell University in 2000 with degrees in Political Science and English, attending on a wrestling scholarship. His early career included a role as Ben Ellis in the TV series *Numb3rs* in 2005 and “Zim” in the NYC Fringe Festival’s *Modern Missionary* in 2006.

Akinnagbe gained significant recognition for his role as Chris Partlow on the HBO series *The Wire*, starting as a recurring character in 2004 and being promoted to a series regular for the fifth and final season in 2008. This role was a turning point in his acting career, establishing him in the industry. He expanded his filmography with appearances in movies such as *The Savages* (2007) and *The Taking of Pelham 123* (2009). His television work continued with guest roles in *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (2009) and a recurring role as Pastor Isiah Easton in *The Good Wife* from 2010 to 2015.

Beyond acting, Akinnagbe is an entrepreneur and social activist. He founded Enitan, a Brooklyn-based furniture business specializing in vintage furniture redesigned with Dutch wax-resist fabrics. He also established Liberated People in 2012, a lifestyle brand focused on inspiring social action through art, culture, and politics. This venture supported organizations like the Trayvon Martin Foundation. His career demonstrates a varied progression, encompassing acting, writing, and socially conscious entrepreneurship, with recent major roles including Julian Carson in *The Old Man* (2022-2024) and Mook in *Wu-Tang: An American Saga* (2021-2023).
