Viswanathan attended the Hunter School of the Performing Arts in Newcastle, where she focused on drama. At the age of fifteen, she pursued opportunities in Los Angeles, aiming for roles in Disney and Nickelodeon productions. She was also shortlisted for the Heath Ledger Scholarship in 2015. While studying International Studies and Journalism, she developed her skills in stand-up and sketch comedy in Sydney.

Viswanathan began her acting career at a young age, appearing in a Kodak television commercial. In 2016, she acted in “Emo the Musical” and participated in her first pilot season in Los Angeles. Her career progressed with a recurring role as Bonnie in the ABC drama series “Janet King” in 2017. Her breakthrough came in 2018 with her role as Kayla in the Universal comedy “Blockers,” directed by Kay Cannon. That same year, she also appeared in the Netflix film “The Package” and the drama “Hala,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was later acquired by Apple. Viswanathan’s performances have earned her recognition, including a spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Gen Talent list, a Rising Star Award at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, and a final selection for Australians in Film’s Heath Ledger Scholarship.

Since 2019, Viswanathan has been a main cast member in Simon Rich’s TBS series “Miracle Workers,” appearing alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi. She also played Rachel in the Emmy-winning film “Bad Education” in 2019, working opposite Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney.
