About

Patricia Williams, publicly known as Ms. Pat, was born on April 2, 1972, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her upbringing was marked by significant hardship; she became a mother at 14 and again at 15, and at age 15, began selling crack cocaine, using the street name “Rabbit.” Her life trajectory shifted when she was encouraged by her caseworker to pursue comedy, leading to her first stand-up performance in Atlanta in 2002. In 2006, she further developed her comedic skills in Indianapolis at Morty’s, a prominent comedy venue. This period laid the groundwork for her extensive career in entertainment, demonstrating a remarkable progression from her early life challenges to professional success.

Ms. Pat’s comedy career has spanned over 18 years, marked by numerous television and podcast appearances. She gained wider recognition in 2015 by participating in the ninth season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Her debut stand-up album, “Rabbit,” was released in 2017, followed by an appearance in Netflix’s “The Degenerates” in 2018. In 2022, Netflix released her hour-long comedy special, “Ms. Pat: Y’all Wanna Hear Something Crazy?” She has also been a regular guest on several popular podcasts, including “WTF with Marc Maron” and “The Joe Rogan Experience,” and is a frequent contributor to “The Bob & Tom Show.” This extensive exposure across various platforms has solidified her presence in the comedy scene.

Beyond stand-up, Ms. Pat has established herself as a multi-talented entertainer. She is the creator, executive producer, and star of “The Ms. Pat Show,” a sitcom based on her life, which premiered on BET+ in 2021. The show quickly garnered critical acclaim, receiving Emmy nominations for “Outstanding Direction for a Comedy Series” in 2022 and 2023. This success led to an overall deal with BET/Paramount Global for various projects. In 2023, she launched “Ms. Pat Settles It,” a comedic arbitration-based reality court show on BET, which debuted as a top-rated show for Black viewers. Her autobiography, “Rabbit – The Autobiography of Ms. Pat,” was a finalist for an NAACP Image Award in 2018. Additionally, she hosts “The Patdown with Ms. Pat” podcast, discussing contemporary issues and sharing personal experiences.
