Gervase Peterson

Born on November 2, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Gervase Peterson experienced a significant personal loss as a young adult when his father died in an automobile accident. This event influenced his perspective on the importance of purposeful living. After completing high school, he earned an electronics degree from Lincoln Technology and dedicated time to teaching basketball at a local YMCA. In the summer of 1999, Peterson submitted an audition tape for a new reality television program, “Survivor.” He was selected as one of 16 individuals to be stranded on a deserted island, marking the beginning of his public career. The show premiered in May 2000, and Peterson became known to millions of viewers, eventually placing seventh in the competition.

Peterson leveraged his initial television exposure into various media opportunities. He appeared on national television programs such as “Late Night with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show,” “Rosie O’Donnell,” and “Live With Regis.” His acting credits include roles on “The Hollywood Squares,” “Nash Bridges,” “The Hughleys,” “VH1’s The List,” and “MTV’s Say What Karaoke.” He also played Jack Tripper in a Nick At Night parody of “Three’s Company” and took on the role of Leo Thompson on the soap opera “As The World Turns.” Beyond acting, Peterson served as a host and news correspondent for events like MTV’s Music Video Awards, MTV’s Spring Break 2001, and “Survivor The Phenomenon,” in addition to contributing to KCBS, “The Early Show,” and “The Today Show.” He has also been featured in publications such as TV Guide, ESPN Magazine, and Playboy, and held a lead role on the internet web site “There Goes The Nation.”

In 2013, Peterson returned to compete on “Survivor: Blood vs. Water,” alongside his niece Marissa. During this season, he formed a strategic alliance and ultimately reached the finals, securing third place. Post-“Survivor,” Peterson has remained active in diverse ventures, including speaking engagements and modeling. He is also a co-owner of the Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs, a United States Basketball League franchise, and Burnz Cigar Vault & Lounge in Lawnside, New Jersey. In 2009, he participated in a celebrity boxing match, winning against adult film entertainer Travis Knight.
