About

Antonino Giovanni Ribisi was born on December 17, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. His parents, Gay Ribisi, a talent manager, and Albert Anthony Ribisi, a musician, both had careers in the entertainment industry. He has a twin sister, actress Marissa Ribisi, and another sister, Gina. Ribisi’s acting career commenced at a young age, with early appearances on television. His mother played a role in launching his career, which began with an appearance in the television series “Highway to Heaven” in 1985. This was followed by numerous roles on television throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, including a significant part as Cory Kupkus in “My Two Dads” from 1987 to 1990 and Jeff Billings in “The Wonder Years” from 1992 to 1993.

Ribisi gained broader recognition in 1996 through his recurring role as Phoebe Buffay’s half-brother on the popular sitcom “Friends,” a role that spanned from 1995 to 1998 and again in 2003. This exposure contributed to his film career, leading to roles in prominent productions such as Tom Hanks’ “That Thing You Do!” (1996) and Steven Spielberg’s acclaimed “Saving Private Ryan” (1998), where he played T-4 Medic Irwin Wade. Ribisi continued to build a filmography that included “Gone in 60 Seconds” (2000), “Heaven” (2002), and “Lost in Translation” (2003). His work in television earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for “My Name Is Earl” (2005–2008).

His career further ascended with his role as Parker Selfridge in James Cameron’s “Avatar” (2009) and its sequels, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022), and upcoming installments including “Avatar: Fire and Ash” (2025) and “Avatar 4” (2029). Ribisi also starred as Marius Josipovic/Pete Murphy in the Amazon series “Sneaky Pete” from 2015 to 2019, a role for which he also served as a producer and directed an episode. In addition to acting, Ribisi has ventured into cinematography, making his feature film debut as a director of photography in “Strange Darling” (2023), where he also acted and produced.
