Greg Baldwin

Greg Baldwin, born on September 13, 1960, in Grants, New Mexico, USA, is an American voice actor with a career spanning over four decades in film, television, and video games. He transitioned into voice acting after extensive work in theater, where he performed in plays such as “God’s Favorite,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Fools,” “Bullshot Crummond,” and “The Baker’s Wife.” Baldwin later gained significant recognition for taking on roles originally voiced by the late Japanese-American actor Mako Iwamatsu, demonstrating a notable ability to emulate Mako’s distinctive vocal style. This unique skill established a crucial turning point in his career after Mako’s death in 2006, leading to several high-profile successor roles.

His most prominent successor roles include Aku in the fifth season of “Samurai Jack” (2017) and the video game “Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall” (2009). He also took on the role of Iroh in the third season of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (2007–2008), a character he later reprised for its sequel series “The Legend of Korra” (2013–2014) and related video games. Additionally, Baldwin lent his voice to Master Splinter in the 2007 film “TMNT” after Mako’s passing during its production. Beyond these inherited roles, Baldwin has voiced numerous original characters across various popular animated series and video games, including “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2010–2012), “Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures” (2016–2017), “SpongeBob SquarePants” (2007), “The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack” (2009), and “The Ghost and Molly McGee” (2021–2024). His voice has also been featured in major video game titles such as “Fallout 4” (2015), “Ghost of Tsushima” (2020), and as Frank Fontaine in “BioShock” (2007). In a rare live-action appearance, he played the communist writer Dutch Zweistrong in the 2016 film “Hail, Caesar!”.
