Greg Grunberg

Gregory Phillip Grunberg, born on July 11, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, commenced his acting career in commercials before transitioning to prominent supporting roles in film and television. His professional trajectory closely aligned with that of his childhood friend, writer-director-producer J. J. Abrams, with whom he has collaborated on numerous projects. Grunberg’s early career involved non-paying gigs in experimental music videos, short films, and commercial spoofs created by Abrams, demonstrating an early and lasting creative partnership.

Grunberg’s television career gained significant momentum from 1998 to 2002 with his role as Sean Blumberg on The WB’s “Felicity,” a character specifically written for him by Abrams. Simultaneously, he held a recurring role as CIA field agent Eric Weiss on Abrams’ other successful series, “Alias,” from 2001 to 2006. These roles provided him with substantial screen exposure, contributing to nearly 140 hours of television appearances across both shows within seven years. A pivotal role arrived in 2006 when he joined the cast of NBC’s “Heroes” as Matt Parkman, a telepathic police officer, a performance that captivated audiences and established his presence independently of Abrams’ direct projects.

Beyond his acting, Grunberg is recognized for his advocacy work. Inspired by his son’s epilepsy, he has taken an active role in raising awareness and funds for epilepsy research.
