Greyston Holt is a Canadian actor with a long and wide-ranging resume. He is currently perhaps best known for his starring roles in major Canadian drama series such as Bitten and Durham County. American viewers will also know him as Tyler from CW series Batwoman and Fox drama series Alcatraz. His work has seen him nominated for two Leo Awards in his home country and one Golden Maple Award, a Los Angeles-based award presented to Canadians who’ve become prominent in American entertainment.
Holt was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1985 and grew up in British Columbia. Initially, he favoured music as a way of artistic expression, but after taking an acting class in school to make up his credits, he realised he’d found his true outlet. After high school, he relocated to Vancouver in order to build a career in acting. After a couple of Canadian TV movies, he was cast in an episode of Into the West, a hugely ambitious miniseries directed by Steven Spielberg that was broadcast in Canada, America, and the UK. There followed further one-off roles in well-known dramas such as Smallville and Flash Gordon before his casting as Ray Prager Jr in Durham Country signalled his true arrival into acting.
Since then, Holt has rarely been away from our screens. In 2014, he landed his biggest role to date in Bitten, a fantasy horror series in which he starred as Clayton Danvers. The series ran for three seasons and won Holt two award nominations. In 2019, he arguably surpassed the prestige of that role when he joined the cast of Batwoman, a series capitalising on the never-ending demand for DC Comics-related shows. With his career heading ever upwards, Holt is assured of ever-bigger roles.
