Professional baseball player Hector Santiago plays for the Seattle Mariners in Major League Baseball, and has previously played for the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets.
Santiago played college baseball for one year at Okaloosa-Walton Community College, before being drafted in the 2006 Major League Baseball draft by the Chicago White Sox. He played for several of their affiliate teams such as the Bristol White Sox and Kannapolis Intimidators. In 2011 he was called up to play in the MLB for the first time in 2011, and he went on to stay with the White Sox for the next two seasons. By this time he had built up a strong reputation for his wide ranging style of pitching, often throwing sliders, changeups and curveballs. Over the next 3 years of his career, Santiago played for the Los Angeles Angels and the Minnesota Twins, enjoying the best season of his career in 2015. He then moved back to play briefly for the White Sox, also signing with the New York Mets in 2019.
This highly sought after player has also enjoyed an international career and has represented his native Puerto Rico in the 2021 Caribbean Series and the 2017 World Baseball Classic, taking home a silver medal. Most recently he has been signed with the Seattle Mariners and is now a key player for the side.
