Kenny Lofton

Kenny Lofton made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros on September 14, 1991, after being selected in the 17th round of the 1988 MLB draft. His career gained significant momentum following a trade to the Cleveland Indians in 1992, where he rapidly established himself as a premier leadoff hitter and center fielder. In his breakout 1992 season, Lofton set an American League rookie stolen base record with 66. He continued his dominance in 1993, leading Major League Baseball in stolen bases with 70 and earning his first Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

In 1996, he again led MLB in stolen bases with 75 and achieved a career-high 67 RBIs, capping off his fourth Rawlings Gold Glove Award. He later played a pivotal role in the Indians’ second World Series appearance in 1997 and recorded a career-high 87 walks in 1998. Throughout his distinguished 17-year Major League Baseball career, Kenny Lofton played for 11 different teams, often sought by contenders for his invaluable postseason experience and impactful play. He concluded his career with an impressive .299 batting average, amassing 2,428 hits and 130 home runs.
