Henry Cejudo is an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling and a former two-division UFC champion, recognized for his accomplishments in both combat sports. After becoming a four-time state champion in high school wrestling, Henry Cejudo went on to cement his legacy in the sport, culminating in an Olympic gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics in the 55 kg category. This historic victory made him the youngest American Olympic gold medalist in wrestling history at the time. His significant contributions to wrestling were further recognized in June 2018 with his induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member.
Further solidifying his combat sports legacy, Cejudo challenged for the UFC Bantamweight Championship. At UFC 238 in June 2019, he defeated Marlon Moraes via TKO to claim the vacant bantamweight title, making him the fourth fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold championships in two different weight divisions. He successfully defended his bantamweight title against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 in May 2020 before announcing his retirement from professional fighting, vacating both titles. In May 2023, Cejudo made a highly anticipated return to the sport, challenging Aljamain Sterling for the UFC Bantamweight Championship.
He has since continued to compete in the competitive division, engaging top contenders such as Merab Dvalishvili and Song Yadong, underscoring his enduring presence at the elite level of mixed martial arts.
