Hlwan Paing

Hlwan Paing, born on March 1, 1989, in Taunggyi, Shan State, Myanmar, is a prominent figure in Burmese entertainment. He established his musical career as part of the underground group “89” during his school years, focusing on songwriting and vocals. He later joined the Rock$tar group, where his distinctive approach to music creation and rapid-fire lyrical delivery earned him recognition as Myanmar’s sole recognized twister. His career expanded into acting, starting with a travel documentary series before taking on leading roles in films and drama series.

Hlwan Paing rose to national fame in 2009 with his hip-hop rap skills on Ye Lay’s track “Ma Nhoute Sat Chin Bu.” His debut album, “Done Pyan” (Rocket), released in 2011 as a duo with Bobby Soxer, featured hit songs like “Done Pyan” and “Bo Kay,” earning the “Best Music Album Award” from Shwe FM and City FM. He continued his musical success with solo albums, “Gi Ta Sar So Hlwan Paing” (2014) and “Gita Bay Da” (2017), and more recently, “Heart-break Anniversary” (2023), which produced the popular song “Chit Tine Lal Ma Nyar.” His acting career includes lead roles in films such as “Old Jacket” (2016) and “Kyway” (2018), and the highly successful drama series “Yin Htal Ka Dan Der Ye” (2022).

Throughout his career, Hlwan Paing has been recognized with multiple awards, including the “Most Popular Male Vocalist Award of Year” (2014) and “Best Selling Stereo Music Album Male Vocalist of the Year” (2017) from City FM, and various awards from Shwe FM and the Myanmar Music Awards. Beyond music and acting, he has also become an active gaming streamer under the alias Bo Paing Gyi since 2018. His influence extends to brand ambassadorships, demonstrating his broad appeal across different media platforms.
