Australia Indi Hartwell is a prominent professional wrestler with championship experience in WWE's NXT, now making an impact in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and on the independent circuit.
Indi Hartwell believes WWE and TNA working together is an overall positive for the industry, especially talent on the TNA roster. She commented on signing with TNA and being in the crowd at Rebellion. Her move to TNA is a consequence of her WWE release.
Indi Hartwell was interviewed by Chris Van Vliet at West Coast Creative Studio in Hollywood, CA, where she discussed her WWE release, joining TNA, becoming NXT Women's Champion, and Mercedes Moné.
Samantha De Martin, known in the wrestling world as Indi Hartwell, was born on August 17, 1996, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She began her professional wrestling training at the age of 19 at the PCW Academy in Melbourne. Hartwell made her in-ring debut in March 2016, quickly gaining recognition across Australian promotions like Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW), Riot City Wrestling (RCW), and World Series Wrestling (WSW). During this early period, she secured the RCW Women’s Championship, the WSW Women’s Championship, and the inaugural Newcastle Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship, demonstrating her potential and skill. Her early career also included appearances with Shimmer Women Athletes and Rise Wrestling in the United States, expanding her experience beyond Australia.
Hartwell’s career saw a significant turning point in November 2019 when she signed with WWE and joined their Performance Center. She debuted on NXT in January 2020, eventually becoming a key member of “The Way” stable alongside Candice LeRae, Johnny Gargano, and Austin Theory. As part of The Way, Hartwell and LeRae won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship in 2021. Her storyline involvement, particularly with Dexter Lumis, resonated with fans, leading to a prominent on-screen wedding segment. In 2023, she achieved a major milestone by winning the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver. She was drafted to the Raw brand in the 2023 WWE Draft, which led to her vacating the NXT Women’s Championship after a 31-day reign.
After her release from WWE in November 2024, Hartwell returned to the independent circuit and subsequently signed with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in April 2025. Her return to the independent scene has seen her capture new titles, including the ROW Women’s Championship and the HOG Women’s World Championship in March and May 2025, respectively. Her debut with TNA in April 2025 further solidified her presence in major wrestling organizations. She continues to compete, demonstrating her versatility and resilience as a singles and tag team competitor.
