Jabari Banks

Patrick Jabari Campbell, professionally known as Jabari Banks, was born on August 2, 1998, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and spent his early life in West Philadelphia. He later moved to North Philadelphia, where he attended the University of the Arts, studying musical theater. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he left the program. Banks adopted his middle name, Jabari, for professional use in high school. He chose “Banks” as his stage surname, inspired by ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’, a show that would later define his breakthrough.

Banks’ career began in 2022 with the pivotal role of Will Smith in Peacock’s ‘Bel-Air’, a dramatic reimagining of the classic 1990 sitcom. This marked his acting debut, a role he secured approximately a week and a half before filming began, with no prior television experience. His portrayal earned him six NAACP Image Awards nominations between 2023 and 2026 for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, and a BET Award nomination in 2022 for Best Actor. In 2023, he signed with Epic Records, releasing his debut single “Something Else” in December 2023, followed by “Weekend Drive” in 2024. His debut EP, ‘ULTRA’, was released in 2025. His film roles include “Bad Genius” (2024) and a voice role in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw” (2025), further diversifying his professional portfolio.

His role in ‘Bel-Air’ quickly established him as a rising star, praised for his ability to navigate the pressures of leading a major television series. Banks has consistently demonstrated dedication and professionalism, attributes he observed in seasoned actors on set. He credits the supportive community around him, including original ‘Fresh Prince’ actor Will Smith, for aiding his transition into the industry.
