American ice hockey player in the NHL, Jaccob Slavin plays for the Carolina Hurricanes and serves as their alternate captain.
Slavin was always a talented sportsman, taking up ice hockey in his youth and never looking back. He was part of the Colorado Thunderbirds minor ice hockey team, playing in tournaments such as the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament when he was a teenager. In 2012 he was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes but he instead chose to attend college, enrolling at Colorado College and playing for the team there. He played for the NCAA Division 1 side, the Colorado College Tigers, and was named as part of the 2013- 2014 NCHC All Rookie Team and the 2013- 2014 NCHC All Conference Second Team. Slavin was chosen as the NCHC Rookie of the Year, and in 2015 he decided to forgo the rest of his college career and instead join the Carolina Hurricanes. He made both his American Hockey League and his National Hockey League debut in the same year and in 2017 signed a contract with the side worth an amazing $5.3 million annually.
In 2020, Slavin scored his first playoff goal for his team, and his career continues to go from strength to strength. This young player is in the prime of his career, and looks set for many more years of success in the rink.
