Jack Carr served over two decades in Naval Special Warfare, a career that spanned various leadership roles and combat deployments. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1996 and progressed from an enlisted SEAL sniper to a junior officer. His service included leading assault and sniper teams in conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Carr also spent time as a platoon commander, engaging in counterinsurgency operations in the southern Philippines, and ultimately commanded a special operations task unit in southern Iraq during the withdrawal of U.S. Forces. His experiences provided him with a deep understanding of military operations and the realities of combat.
Following his retirement from active duty in 2016, Carr pursued a career in writing. His debut novel, “The Terminal List,” was published in 2018. This book gained significant recognition and was later adapted into a popular television series for Amazon Prime Video, starring Chris Pratt, which premiered on July 1, 2022. The series was renewed for a second season, based on his second novel, “True Believer.” Beyond fiction, Carr has also ventured into non-fiction, releasing “Targeted: Beirut” in 2024, which draws on declassified documents to explore historical events, marking the beginning of a new non-fiction series. He also hosts a podcast called “Danger Close.”
Carr’s literary work has received several accolades, including nominations for the Goodreads Choice Award for Debut Author and being a finalist for the Thriller Award for Best First Novel, and the Barry Award for Best Thriller. His novels consistently explore themes and scenarios derived from his extensive military background, offering readers a realistic perspective on special operations. He continues to expand his writing career with new books in “The Terminal List” series and his non-fiction “Targeted” series, maintaining a significant presence in both the literary and media landscapes.
