Renowned for his gripping performances in television series This Life and Coupling, Jack Davenport is known to many as admiral Norrington in the monster-hit Disney franchise Pirates of the Caribbean. Son of actors Maria Aitken and Nigel Davenport, British actor Jack Davenport caught the acting bug from an early age and went on to study at the famous British American Drama Academy in London. Initially lacking interest in his parent’s passion, Davenport was invited to work with a Clwyd Theatre Cymru director, who was overwhelmingly impressed by Davenport’s talent and skill.
After finishing his studies at the University of East Anglia, Davenport found his first break by writing to famed actor and comedian John Cleese, asking to be a runner on the set of Fierce Creatures, where he eventually played a zoo-keeper. His first major role was that of barrister Miles Stewart in drama series This Life, before appearing as Matt Damon’s love interest in the 1999 hit movie The Talented Mr. Ripley. Upon gaining mainstream audience appeal for his role as Admiral Norrington in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, where he starred alongside Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, Davenport became a household name.
Most recently Davenport has starred as Lancelot in the 2014 blockbuster spy movie Kingsman: The Secret Service and can be seen portraying Guy Harcourt in the critically acclaimed, hard-hitting ITV drama series Next To Kin.
