Jacob Hester transitioned from a decorated college athlete at LSU to an NFL fullback, playing for the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos. After a decorated collegiate career culminating in a BCS national championship with LSU in 2007, where he rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown in the national championship game against Ohio State, Jacob Hester was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2008 NFL draft, 69th overall. As a senior and team captain for LSU in 2007, Hester led the team in rushing 10 times, accumulating 1,103 yards and 12 touchdowns on 225 carries, alongside 14 receptions for 106 yards and an additional touchdown. That same year, he was recognized as a Second-team All-SEC honoree, received the Lowman Trophy Award, and was named both SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Sporting News National Player of the Week following a 106-yard and game-winning touchdown performance against Florida.
He quickly made an impact in Denver, achieving a career-high 55 rushing yards on seven carries in Week 17 of the 2012 season, a performance that significantly contributed to the Broncos securing the AFC’s top seed. His professional playing career concluded with his release from the Denver Broncos on September 1, 2013.
