A quick glance over Jake Stormoen’s acting resume will tell you the kind of shows and films he is most closely associated with: Mythica, Extinct, Runes, Devil’s Got My Back, War Pigs. He has established himself as one of the faces of modern fantasy drama. The series he is currently best known for is Outpost, a drama that has aired on The CW since 2018. Stormoen plays Captain Garret Spears, one of the show’s central characters.
Stormoen has also appeared as Dagen in all five instalments of the Mythica film series, from 2013’s A Quest for Heroes to 2016’s The Godslayer. These intense, highly atmospheric dramas follow the travels and trials of a hopeful young magician and mix cinema with the perspective of a role-playing action game and grew from a crowdfunding project to become essential cult viewing. After wrapping The Godslayer, Stormoen began playing his first recurring television role, Duncan in Extinct, a post-apocalyptic thriller set 400 years after aliens have wiped out humanity, that was picked up by American channel BYU TV.
Despite his close involvement with fantasy and futuristic worlds, Stormoen is a versatile actor who has commanded a wide range of roles. He is equally at home starring in a festive family film (such as 2018’s Christmas Wonderland) as he is in a post-apocalyptic dystopia. In 2020, he co-starred opposite The Bold & The Beautiful’s Nicole Posener in Bookworm & The Beast, a romantic comedy set in the distinctly un-fantasy world of corporate PR. Such a broad spectrum of roles will ensure Jake Stormoen’s longevity.
