Jallaluddin Mohammad Malik, known professionally as Jallal, was born on February 10, 1993, in Los Angeles, California. His music career began in 2011 with the release of his debut mixtape, “Semi-Casual Love.” This initial project was produced under the mentorship of Lupe Fiasco. Following this, he released a second mixtape, “Unwilling Fortay,” which garnered the attention of Yasiin Bey, also known as Mos Def, who subsequently became another mentor figure for Jallal. His early career saw him supporting Mos Def on several US tours starting in 2013.
Jallal continued to build his discography with notable collaborations. In 2014, he released his first single, “Rocky,” featuring Rick Ross and produced by DJ Moza. The same year, he released “Suicide” featuring BJ the Chicago Kid. In 2015, he independently founded his clothing brand, Seviin, marking a diversification of his creative and entrepreneurial endeavors. His musical output continued with singles like “Gone Girl” featuring RDGLDGRN in 2015. He maintained a consistent release schedule, dropping “Over Now” and “Control Me” in 2016.
His career saw a significant period of activity in 2017, starting with the single “Imma Dog,” produced by CashMoneyAP in February. This was followed by “2:00 AM,” produced by Goddy Beats. In May 2017, he released “Toss & Turn,” a collaboration with Ne-Yo, produced by Hugo, James, and Jan Fairchild. June 2017 brought the release of “Never Forgotten,” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid, Kaye Fox, and Georgia Anne Muldrow. These tracks were all part of his 15-track mixtape, “Off the Radar,” released on June 14, 2017, which also included appearances from 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, and Yo Gotti, with additional production from Chad Hugo of The Neptunes and Elliot James of Hey Monday. More recently, in 2022, he collaborated with Slushii on the single “Lets Ride.” His career reflects a sustained commitment to music production and artistic collaborations, alongside entrepreneurial ventures.
