Jarred Christmas

Jarred Christmas was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and began performing live comedy in the late 1990s at the age of 18. After attending Hagley Community College, which he credits with positively influencing his life, he moved to Britain in 2003 to continue his career in comedy. Christmas quickly established himself on the UK circuit, leading to numerous television appearances and live performances.

Throughout his career, Christmas has appeared on several notable television shows, including BBC Two’s ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ and ‘Mock the Week’, BBC Three’s ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’, and Channel 4’s ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’. He also featured in Dave’s ‘One Night Stand’. In film, he appeared in ‘The Wedding Video’ (2012) alongside Matt Berry, Miriam Margolyes, and Robert Webb, and ‘Is This a Joke?’ (2012) with Russell Tovey. He was also a writer and actor in the YouTube comedy web series ‘Dwarves Assemble’ (2013-8 episodes, as Bashface) and the TV movie ‘Crime Fails’ (2015, as Detective Crumb and writer). His career milestones include winning the Chortle Comedy Award for Best Compere in 2010 and the Fred Award in 2013.

Christmas has a significant background in live performance, having showcased his shows at international festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Liverpool Comedy Festival, and Glasgow Comedy Festival. He toured the UK with ‘Jarred Christmas Stands Up’ in 2010 and ‘Let’s Go Mofo’ in 2012. He has also hosted ‘Monumental’ (2014 season) and been the Joke Master in the CBBC show ‘The Joke Machine’ since 2014, appearing in 50 episodes. In 2018, Christmas was diagnosed with Ménière’s disease and has since incorporated discussions about his condition into his comedy.
