Jason Shane Ellis was born on October 11, 1971, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. At the age of 17, Ellis relocated to the United States to pursue a career in professional skateboarding, which commenced in 1985. He competed actively until his retirement from the sport in 2006. A notable achievement in his skateboarding career occurred in 2001 when he established a Guinness World Record for the largest drop on a skateboard, successfully landing a jump into a 70-foot skateboard ramp. Though this specific record was later surpassed by Danny Way in 2006, Ellis remained a significant figure in the skateboarding community, participating in events such as the X-Games Mega Ramp competition and hosting ‘Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huckjam’.
Transitioning from his athletic pursuits, Ellis ventured into radio. He began his radio career as a co-host for Tony Hawk’s Demolition Radio on a part-time basis before launching his own program. In May 2005, he premiered “The Jason Ellis Show” on Sirius XM satellite radio, where it aired until November 2020. The show gained a following for its unscripted format and featured discussions on current events, relationship advice, and sports like mixed martial arts and Motocross. During its run, the show was broadcast on uncensored channels like Faction Talk and Internet Radio Nonstop xL 791. Following its cancellation from Sirius XM, “The Jason Ellis Show” continued as a podcast.
Beyond his radio and skateboarding careers, Ellis has engaged in other fields. He has a professional mixed martial arts record of 2-0, with wins via submission in 2009 and 2017. He also competed in truck racing in the Lucas Oil SuperLite Series for Dethrone in 2011 and participated in celebrity boxing matches. Furthermore, Ellis is involved in music as the founding member and vocalist for the comedy rock/metal band Taintstick, later known as “Death! Death! Die!”, which released the album “Six Pounds of Sound”. He is also a published author, co-authoring “I’m Awesome: One Man’s Triumphant Quest to Become the Sweetest Dude Ever” (2013) and “The Awesome Guide to Life: Get Fit, Get Laid, Get Your Sh*t Together” (2014). He co-hosts the podcast “Hawk vs Wolf” with Tony Hawk.
