The fantastic Mark “The Welsh Potting Machine” Williams is a professional snooker player, who has been ranked the World No.1 player three times. As of 2023, he is a 3x World Champion, a 2x UK Champion, a 2x Masters Champion, and a 24x Ranking Event Winner. In 2002-03 he won the UK Championship, the Masters, and the World Championship to become only the third player in history to win all three Triple Crown events in one season. In 2004 he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to snooker.
Born and raised in Gwent, Wales, Williams started playing snooker at a young age and was 11-years-old when he won his first junior event. He turned professional in 1992 when he was 17-years-old, and in 1996 claimed his first ranking tournament win by taking the Welsh Open title. He took his first Masters title in 1998 after he beat Stephen Hendry, and in the 1999-2000 season he won the UK Championship and the World Championship. He was crowned World Champion again in 2003 and 2018, and prior to that had taken his second UK Championship title in 2002, and his second Masters title in 2003.
