Jason Tabansky, a Paralympic gold medalist for the United States, has achieved significant milestones in Para archery after 15.5 years of active service with the U.S. Army. Initially a bowhunter, he transitioned to serious competitive archery, eventually joining the national Para archery team. This shift led him to represent the United States on an international stage, where his dedication quickly translated into notable achievements and consistent performance.
His competitive career began to soar in 2022 when he secured three gold medals at the Pan-Am Championships. A year later, in 2023, Tabansky earned a silver medal in the individual W1 event at the Parapan American Games held in Santiago. His rigorous training regimen, supported by coach Jonathan Clemins and his wife, Courtney Brassard, an archer herself, proved instrumental in his ongoing success, setting the stage for future triumphs. The pinnacle of Tabansky’s career arrived at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Despite a challenging qualification path, where he secured his slot in late June, he delivered a gold-medal-winning performance in the men’s individual W1 Para archery event. His victory over top-ranked competitors, notably a win against ‘Mr. W1’ David Drahoninsky, underscored his exceptional skill and mental fortitude. This achievement marked his first Paralympic appearance and continued a proud legacy of American men earning individual Para archery medals at the Games.
Most recently, Tabansky further solidified his elite standing by claiming a silver medal at the 2025 World Para Archery Championships in Gwangju. This latest accomplishment reinforced his position as a formidable competitor on the global stage, continually demonstrating his prowess and commitment to the sport of Para archery.
