Jason Weaver, also known by his musical stage name J-Weav, is an actor and singer from the United States. He is most remembered for his role in the WB sitcom “Smart Guy,” where he played the role of Marcus Henderson, the older brother to child prodigy T.J. for whom the show is named. He also appeared as Jerome Turrell in the short-lived sitcom “Thea” for its sole season. In 1992 he portrayed the pre-teen version of Michael Jackson in the ABC miniseries “The Jacksons: An American Dream,” for which he showcased his aptitude for singing. His most notable role as a singer, however, was voice acting as a teen in the 1994 Walt Disney classic feature animation picture “The Lion King” when he provided the singing voice of young Simba.
In 2006 Weaver landed a role in the coming-of-age comedy-drama film “ATL,” where he played the character, Teddy. It also marked the film directorial debut of music video director Chris Robinson. In 1995, Motown Records released Weaver’s own debut album, “Love Ambition.” He also released two versions of the song “Stay With Me.” He was also famously featured on Chingy’s hit tune “One Call Away,” which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2004.
