Jocelyn “Jay” Devilliers was born in Rosny-Sous-Bois, France, on December 18, 1994. During his youth, he participated in various varsity sports including soccer, tennis, handball, swimming, squash, badminton, table tennis, and skiing. He showed particular skill in tennis and soccer, eventually choosing to focus on tennis. In 2009, Devilliers moved to Barcelona, Spain, to further his tennis training, where he earned his high school diploma and met his future wife, Aleksandra Trifunovic. An injury prevented him from pursuing professional tennis, leading him to accept a College Tennis Scholarship at Wichita State University.
After graduating from Wichita State University, Devilliers was introduced to pickleball. He recognized similarities between pickleball and tennis but noted that pickleball required less physical exertion. This discovery inspired him to begin competing in pickleball as a hobby in 2020. He has since transitioned to competing full-time, aiming to promote the sport in his native France. As of August 2023, he resides in Wichita, Kansas, U.S.
Since starting his professional pickleball career in 2020, Devilliers has achieved multiple tournament victories. His career highlights include a PPA Career ranking of No. 2 in Men’s Singles, No. 3 in Men’s Doubles, and No. 2 in Mixed Doubles. As of August 12, 2023, he is ranked No. 4 in Men’s Singles, No. 7 in Men’s Doubles, and No. 9 in Mixed Doubles by the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA). He continues to be an ambassador and coach, contributing to the growth and development of pickleball.
