About

Jenna Nicole Mourey, known professionally as Jenna Marbles, was born on September 15, 1986, in Rochester, New York. She attended Brighton High School, graduating in 2004. Her academic pursuits led her to Suffolk University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology, followed by a Master of Education in sport psychology and counseling from Boston University. In the summer of 2010, while residing in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she supported herself through various jobs including bartending, working at a tanning salon, vlogging, and go-go dancing. Her career in digital media began in 2010 when she started writing for StoolLaLa, a female-oriented site under Barstool Sports, before departing in 2011.

Jenna Marbles launched her YouTube channel in 2010. Her comedy video “How to Trick People into Thinking You’re Good Looking” quickly achieved viral status, accumulating approximately 5.3 million views within its initial week. The video has exceeded 70 million views to date. In August 2011, her video “How to Avoid Talking to People You Don’t Want to Talk To” was featured in The New York Times and ABC News. She adopted the pseudonym Jenna Marbles to prevent her YouTube content from affecting her mother’s employment prospects, taking the name from her dog, Mr. Marbles. Throughout her YouTube career, she diversified her content and appeared in various projects. She played Eve in “Epic Rap Battles of History” and also made appearances in “Annoying Orange,” “Ridiculousness,” and “Smosh: The Movie.” In 2014, she was featured in Pitbull’s “Fireball” music video alongside other YouTubers. In 2015, she became one of the first YouTube personalities to have a wax figure at Madame Tussauds New York, which she unveiled herself.

In June 2020, Jenna Marbles announced an indefinite hiatus from YouTube, following an apology video addressing past content from 2011 and 2012 that contained blackface, racist remarks, and derogatory language. She expressed remorse for any offense caused. Her fans largely responded positively to her apology and decision to step away. Beyond YouTube, she launched a brand of dog toys named Kermie Worm & Mr. Marbles, based on her pets. She also created merchandise featuring popular phrases from her videos. From 2014 to 2016, Marbles hosted a weekly pop countdown on SiriusXM Hits 1 called YouTube 15. In 2016, she served as an executive producer for “Maximum Ride,” a film adaptation of James Patterson’s novel series. In April 2021, she became engaged to fellow YouTuber Julien Solomita, and they married in November 2022.
