Jennifer Arnold

Jennifer Arnold, MD, MSc, FAAP, was born in St. Petersburg, FL, and grew up in Orlando, FL. Her academic path began with undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Miami. She pursued her medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, graduating in 2000, followed by a Pediatric Residency Program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. During her fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, she earned a Master’s of Science in Medical Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Arnold is Board Certified in Neonatal Medicine and currently serves as the Medical Director of the Simulation Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

For over 15 years, Dr. Arnold has been dedicated to simulation education, patient safety, and research. She was an NIH postdoctoral scholar at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine’s Safar Center for Resuscitative Medicine. Her work in simulation has received funding from various organizations, including the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine, Cullen Trust for Healthcare, Texas Children’s Hospital Educational Grants, and the MD Anderson Foundation. Her current interests in simulation include evaluating new clinical spaces, team training, enhancing quality and patient safety, developing home care skills for primary caregivers of medically complex children, and creating educational curricula for hospital departments. She has presented nationally and internationally on healthcare simulation and delivered inspirational speeches on overcoming obstacles for organizations such as the Texas Conference for Women, Shriners Hospital, Sloan Kettering, March of Dimes, and Fortune 100 corporations.

Dr. Arnold has a rare form of dwarfism, Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia Type Strudwick. She is also a six-year cancer survivor. Along with her husband Bill Klein and their two children, Will and Zoey, she is featured in TLC’s docu-drama, “The Little Couple,” which chronicles their personal and professional lives. She has also made appearances on prominent television programs including “Oprah,” “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America,” “Dr. OZ,” “Jeopardy,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “The Doctors,” “Wendy Williams,” “Anderson Cooper,” and CNN.
