Beginning as Managing Director & Chief Economist for SG Warburg Securities Japan in 1989, he progressed to hold similar significant positions, including Managing Director & Chief Economist for JP Morgan Japan Securities in 1994, and Managing Director at Tiger Fund Investment Management in 1997. Koll continued his trajectory in U.S. investment banks, serving as Managing Director & Chief Economist for Merrill Lynch Japan Securities starting in 1999, where he solidified his reputation for incisive economic analysis.
His career evolved through key leadership roles, taking on the position of Chief Executive Officer for Tantallon Research Japan in 2008. He returned to JP Morgan Japan Securities as Managing Director & Head of Equity Research in 2009, before becoming Chief Executive Officer of WisdomTree Japan Inc. in 2015.
