Chaz Dean began his career with a determination to enter the salon industry. He completed a hairstylist assistant program, focusing on building client connections and learning about hair care. This early experience foundational to his approach to holistic hair health. His goal was to establish a salon where he could implement his philosophy of achieving healthy, beautiful hair through a holistic methodology, moving away from conventional methods.

In May 1993, Chaz Dean introduced his Cleansing Conditioner, a product that marked a departure from traditional lathering shampoos. This innovative 5-in-1 product functioned as a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler, and leave-in conditioner. It was developed to address the damage caused by existing products, such as faded color and dry, brittle hair. The Cleansing Conditioner became popular as clients observed improvements in their hair’s health and appearance. This product line expanded significantly, encompassing over 700 products including styling, skincare, body care, lip care, fragrance, home, men’s, kids, and pet care, selling over 200 million bottles within a decade, particularly through QVC.

His career progression includes opening a new salon and boutique in New York City, complementing his existing success on the West Coast. Beyond his work in hair care, Dean engages in various creative activities such as photography, gardening, and home renovation. He also developed a pet care line, WEN Pets, reflecting his personal interest as a dog owner. Dean consistently emphasizes the importance of following one’s passion and perseverance, highlighting that hard work and belief in oneself are key to achieving goals.
