Jesse Williams

Jesse Williams has transitioned from high school teacher to acclaimed actor, director, and producer, known for his impactful roles and activism. After being selected for the New York Actors Showcase presented by ABC Television in 2005, Jesse Williams rapidly made his mark in television, debuting in a 2006 episode of ‘Law & Order’ and two episodes of ‘Greek.’ His film debut followed in 2008 with ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.’ A pivotal moment arrived in 2009 when he joined the cast of ABC’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ as surgical resident Dr. Jackson Avery, a role that became a series regular in 2010 and which he maintained for 12 seasons, later reprising it for guest appearances in 2022 and 2024. For his impactful work, Williams was honored as TV Actor of the Year at the Young Hollywood Awards in 2011.

He is a prominent voice in racial justice, actively serving on the board of The Advancement Project and utilizing his platform to address social issues.
