Born Jessica Lynn Horn on July 7, 1977, in Buffalo, New York, Jessica Chobot spent her early life moving frequently across the East Coast and Midwest before settling in Novi, Michigan. Her career began gaining significant public attention in 2005 after a viral photo of her licking a Sony PSP. In 2006, she joined IGN.com as a full-time host for IGN Weekly and IGN Strategize, contributing written content, reviews, and blog posts until 2009. During this period, she also wrote for FHM UK, appeared on G4’s Filter and Attack of the Show!, hosted a gaming preview for Fuel TV’s The Daily Habit, co-hosted Gamer’s Dojo on Lifeskool TV, and contributed to Maxim Radio, writing a weekly blog titled ‘Ask Jess, Dammit!’.
From 2009 to 2011, Chobot hosted IGN’s Daily Fix, a weekday news program covering gaming and tech updates, and continued her role on IGN’s Xbox-based show, Strategize. In 2011, she co-hosted G4’s Proving Ground. Her influence expanded beyond hosting; she appeared in commercials for ADV’s Anime Network On Demand, collaborated with Symbiote Studios Toy Company for limited-edition collectibles, and modeled for J!NX gamer apparel. In 2007, she played a role in the conceptualization of ‘Soul Code’, a futuristic screenplay by Tron director Steven Lisberger.
From 2013 to 2019, Chobot hosted Nerdist News, Nerdist News Talks Back, and was the creator and co-host of the paranormal podcast Bizarre States. Her vocal and likeness portrayal of Diana Allers in the 2012 video game Mass Effect 3 generated discussion regarding journalistic ethics in gaming, a role she addressed by stating her primary function as an on-screen personality. Chobot also wrote for the 2014 survival horror video game Daylight. She has co-hosted the D.I.C.E. Awards multiple times and served as a sideline reporter and judge for Battlebots. In 2020, she joined the Discovery Channel series Expedition X as a co-host for seven seasons, showcasing her continued involvement in exploring unexplained phenomena. In 2025, she launched her new podcast, Occulture Shock, on Patreon, continuing her exploration of the paranormal, the occult, and esoteric history. Recently, Chobot announced a new three-part Discovery series, “Bigfoot Took Her,” set to premiere on October 29, 2025.
