American singer and actress Jessica Vosk is known for her work in musical theatre. She’s widely renowned for her performance in the lead role of Elphaba in the internationally successful musical Wicked, which ran on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre from 2018 to 2019.
Raised in Clinton, New Jersey, Vosk found her footing in community theatre before enrolling in a musical theatre course at Connecticut’s The Hartt School. After spending some time on Wall Street in finance, Vosk decided to pursue her dreams and become a full-time actress. Her Broadway breakout came in 2014, as she was cast in Jason Robert Brown’s Bridges of Madison County, making her principal debut as Marian and acting as understudy for the role of Chiara. She then found prominent roles in Finding Neverland and Fiddler on the Roof before performing in the San Francisco Symphony’s Grammy-nominated live recording of the West Side Story score.
Vosk landed the most notable role of her career so far in 2018, after accepting the role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked. Earning a Broadway .com Audience Choice Award for Best Replacement, she stunned audiences and critics and opened doors to several future opportunities. These included the role of Aunt Val in the world premiere of Becoming Nancy, which earned her a BroadwayWorld Atlanta Best Actress in a Musical Award, and a role in the Lincoln Center production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Vosk released her debut album in 2018, titled Wild and Free. Featuring a mix of pop and musical theatre numbers, the record saw the talented vocalist offer up her take on classics from Prince, Sara Baseilles, Sia and Jason Robert Brown, reaching No. 12 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
