Nigerian-American rapper Jig started writing and self-producing in April 2019 after being inspired by some of the most flexible artists in the business, who switch between Rap and R&B. Jig, who was born Ikemefuna Eguh in 1998, started his career as a SoundCloud artist, honing a sound that blended raps on his background and early experiences with melodically sung vocals. Jig was forced to mature quickly after his father’s death in 2003 and continues to use music as a means of expressing feelings that he might not otherwise be able to. Each project and single he works on appears to fuel his enthusiasm for music even more.
Jig has performed with well-known musicians like Tory Lanez, Dream Doll, Pop Smoke, and others and released a number of hits. He is still making a name for himself while holding onto a vault of unreleased songs, drawing inspiration from some of today’s biggest names. Jig keeps up with his fans on Instagram @jigavelii, where he boasts more than 18,000 followers, and makes personalized videos for his fans on the social media platform Cameo. His music is available on platforms including Audiomack, Apple Music and Spotify, as well as on his YouTube channel Jigavelii, where he has over 2,000 subscribers and 680,000 views. In 2021, he uploaded videos for tracks including ‘Who Do I Trust’, ‘Drugs’, ‘Dangerously in Love’ and ‘Peter Parker’.
