Jim L. Mora is a distinguished American football coach currently serving as the head coach at the University of Connecticut. His coaching journey began at the University of Washington, where he started as a graduate assistant in 1984 after playing as a reserve defensive back and linebacker. Mora quickly advanced through the ranks, becoming a quality control coach for the San Diego Chargers in 1985 and later the defensive backs coach for the New Orleans Saints under his father, Jim E. Mora. His expertise in defensive strategies led him to the San Francisco 49ers, where he became the defensive coordinator in 1999.
In 2004, Mora took the helm as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, leading the team to an impressive 11-5 record and a playoff berth in his first season. His tenure included a notable victory over the St. Louis Rams in the divisional round, showcasing his ability to motivate and prepare his players for high-stakes games. After a brief stint with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was named head coach in 2009, Mora transitioned to college football, taking over as head coach of the UCLA Bruins in 2012.
