Jim Williams is a Welsh professional darts player currently competing in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. In 2019, Williams made a notable attempt to secure a PDC tour card, but after falling short, he expressed his commitment to the British Darts Organisation (BDO). He mentioned to Dartsnews.com his intention to possibly participate in a few PDC Challenge Tours, though he remained uncertain about his future direction.
In 2020, Williams reached the final of the BDO World Championship, facing Wayne Warren in a highly competitive match. Despite a strong performance, he lost 7–4, marking the final BDO World Championship before the organization went into liquidation later that year. Following this setback, Williams struggled to secure a PDC tour card in both 2020 and 2021, but he eventually triumphed by winning the 2021 PDC Challenge Tour, which also granted him entry into prestigious events such as the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts and the 2022 PDC World Darts Championship.
Since joining the PDC circuit, Williams has continued to showcase his talent. He qualified for his first PDC World Championship by winning the UK Challenge Tour, although he faced a defeat against Joe Cullen in the last 64. Demonstrating his growth, he claimed his first Pro Tour event victory in just his sixth attempt, defeating Ricky Evans 8–6 in the final to earn £12,000.
In the 2024 PDC World Championship, Williams made headlines by knocking out Peter Wright, the fourth seed, in the second round, underscoring his potential as a formidable competitor in the darts world. As he continues to make strides in the PDC, Williams remains a player to watch.
