His career soared when Norman Lear’s team cast him in Good Times in 1974, where he became a television sensation as James ‘J.J.’ Evans, Jr., on the iconic sitcom. Walker’s portrayal earned him two consecutive Golden Globe Award nominations in 1975 and 1976. During the show’s run from 1974 to 1979, Walker’s catchphrase, ‘Dyn-o-mite!’, became a cultural phenomenon, leading to extensive merchandise and national recognition, including being named ‘Comedian of the Decade’ by Time Magazine in the mid-1970s.

Walker’s prolific career in film continued with appearances in The Guyver (1991), Monster Mash: The Movie (1995), and Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the Thirteenth (2000).
