Jonathan Kimble Simmons, born on January 9, 1955, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, initially pursued a career in music, studying at the Ohio State University and the University of Montana, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music in 1978. While in college, he joined the music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and began performing at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse. His early career on stage included notable roles on Broadway, such as portraying Captain Hook in the 1991 revival of “Peter Pan” and Benny Southstreet in the 1992 revival of “Guys and Dolls,” for which he can be heard on the cast recording. This theatrical foundation provided him with a strong performance background.
Simmons transitioned into film and television, making a significant impact with roles that showcased his range.
