Joanna Muir

Joanna Muir is a former British modern pentathlete who competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and achieved multiple podium finishes in World Cup and European Championships. After making her Modern Pentathlon World Cup circuit debut in Palm Springs, California, in 2013, Joanna Muir solidified her foundation in elite sport, earning a degree in Sports Performance from the University of Bath in 2015. That same year marked a significant early career milestone when Muir secured a silver medal in the women’s relay at the Junior European Modern Pentathlon Championships, competing alongside Francesca Summers. Her success continued into 2016, where she earned another silver medal in the women’s relay at the World Modern Pentathlon Championships in Moscow, partnered with Samantha Murray.

Her Olympic experience was followed by a remarkable 2022 season, earning an an individual silver medal and contributing to a team gold at the European Modern Pentathlon Championships held in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. Joanna Muir announced her retirement from modern pentathlon in January 2023, concluding a distinguished career marked by Olympic representation and multiple international podium finishes. Following her successful transition from professional athlete, Muir began applying her extensive experience and strategic acumen within the sports industry, taking on a role at a prominent sports marketing agency.
