When Joe Joyce was still in the amateur boxing league, he placed in championship after championship for super-heavyweight, even taking home silver for Great Britain in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. And since he went pro in 2017, Joyce remains undefeated.
Joyce’s interest in boxing started late: he started competing when he was 22, since injuries impaired his ability to perform track and field. Shortly after, he joined Earlsfield ABC based in London. By 2011, he earned his first title, winning gold at the Great Britain Championships. The following year, he was decorated in gold at the English National Championships—a feat he’d repeat in 2014. Meanwhile, he surpassed the national level when he reached bronze at the European Championships in 2013, earning him worldwide recognition.
Leading up to the Olympics, Joyce won both the Commonwealth and European Games, and he also nabbed another bronze at the 2015 World Championships. After taking home gold at the European Olympic Trials and competing in the boxing world series, Joyce qualified, earning silver on behalf of England.
With a track record like this, it’s no wonder Joyce was picked up by Havemaker Ringstar. Upon getting signed, he immediately challenged the Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion, and then the British Heavyweight Champion—both of which he won, winning his first four matches ever, breaking a record for the first time in 106 years. To date, he’s won twelve out of twelve matches—and eleven of those wins were by knockout. Currently, he’s the standing European, British, Commonwealth, WBC Silver, and WBO International heavyweight champion, leading the Transnational Boxing Rankings to place him at tenth in the world.
